Umudike Queen wins the 5,000 and 1,500 metre races. #NUGA2017

What seemed as an unimaginable feat was yesterday accomplished by Miss Uba Glory Adeaeze, an athlete from the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

The young lady dazzled spectators and officials yesterday at the tracks of the Akanu Ibiam Stadium, UNN when she came from behind twice to win the finals of the 5,000m and the 1,500m races at the Zone G preliminaries of NUGA 2017. She completed the 1,000m race in five minutes and twenty-five seconds while completing the 5,000m in 21.9 minutes.

In a chat with correspondents of the UNN INFOdirect, she expressed appreciations to God Almighty for strengthening her to achieve such a feat. According to her, it means so much to her and to her school who prepared her for the event.

When asked of her expectations for the main event at Makurdi, she said she is optimistic and hopeful of a successful outing.

She was followed closely in the 5,000m race by a runner from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Emenike Vivian another UNN runner, Aneke Onyinyechi trailed her in the 1,000m race female finals.

So, MOUAU and UNN have both qualified for the Makurdi 2017 NUGA 1500m and 5000m races, female category.
