The 2017 edition of the Annual Dean’s Cup Competition of the Faculty of Arts Students Association, officially kicked off over the week with interesting games played.
The competition began on Thursday, 4th of May, 2017 at the main bowl of the Akanu Ibiam Stadium, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In the first game played between the Departments of English and Literary Studies and Theatre and Film Studies ended on 1 nil in favour of the Grammarians. Another game played on the same day had the Department of History beating their opponents, Department of Music, 4-1.
On the second day of the competition which was played on Friday, the Defending Champions, Department of Archaeology and Tourism struggled to a one-all draw with the Department of Mass Communication while the Department of Fine and Applied Arts fell heavily to a 4 nil defeat in the hands of the Combined Arts.
The third day of the competition saw Linguistics trashing English 1-0 while the points were shared equally among Music and Foreign Languages in their game which ended in a 1-all draw.
The competition continues tomorrow, Sunday at the Akanu Ibiam stadium with Combined Arts playing against the Defending Champions in what could be tagged the “match to watch”, while Mass Communication struggles it out in another encounter with the Department of Fine Arts.
